My New Favorite

These are a pair of custom longies for an awesome and very patient customer on etsy.
They are knit in my 'Little Miss Hippopotamus' colorway. I hope she loves them!

I have a new favorite, I love this poncho, not to toot my own horn but I think it turned out darling. I HAVE to make one of these for my own girls. OK, and the pictures are sideways. Not sure how to fix that right now, but I will be back tomorrow with a longer post and hopefully better pics.

Let the countdown begin!

Ahh the Christmas season is here! And it is going by way too fast! I can't believe we only have 2 weeks until Christmas and I am far from ready. The cold weather is here and we are supposed to get a huge snowstorm this weekend. Perfect because I am going to spend it knitting away! Here are a couple of finished projects. First longies in 'Savanna Life' dyed by me to match a goodmama in the Savanna Life print.

Also some yarn I did that was a whoops. I dyed up a second skein for a customer in my jungle rainbow colorway, but it turned out lighter, and voila, a new colorway. I am going to call it spring rainbow.

And finally a hudson hat I finished that is on its way to a new home tomorrow!

Happy December!

I can't believe it is December here, it was 60 degrees today, that is unheard of in Utah. I am grateful though because it means much faster drying time for my yarn! We got our new stove last week and I am finally getting caught up, if only my cestari order would get here... hopefully tomorrow.

I think I am going to close down to dyeing customs until January just so I can get a jump on my knitting customs. I've been working hard on Rachel's Savanna Life longies and they've been giving me quite a headache. The body turned out beautifully but the legs were pooling terribly so I frogged them 3 times and finally they are turning out nicely. I am almost to the cuff on the second leg and will take them to work with me tomorrow to finish during lunch. I enjoy seeing the reaction of those I work with, they just can't quite grasp the concept of longies, but I think I am winning them over.

I know I still have a lot of you out there waiting for me to finish your orders, I am working feverishly and hope to have most items out to you before Christmas so I can spend Christmas break knitting for my own kiddos.

Houston, we have a problem...

Well, we had an eventful night last night at our house, at 11:30 we heard a loud banging and came out to see flying sparks and smoke coming from our range. The oven door is now melted shut. Needless to say it has bitten the dust. I am feeling very blessed that we were home at the time and still awake so that we could stop it from turning into a fire. However, I am extremely frustrated since I need my range to dye yarn, not to mention the cost of a new range. It will be two weeks until we get our new range (microwave dinner anyone?) and in the meantime my very generous co-worker, Tonya, has offered to lend us her portable range so we can get by, it only has one burner, so things will probably be significantly slower in the customs department. I'm so sorry about this and I'll work hard to get them done as fast as possible!

On another, happier, note, here are some finished customs I am excited to show off. The pics are still a work in progress since it has been cloudy and rainy here for going on a week. I am growing impatient with the lack of sun, but, being November I'd better hurry up and get over it. I'm having a little trouble fitting longies into the space where I take pictures of the yarn so the pics are a little wonky.

First up a colorway that is different than anything I've ever seen, these are yymn, I'm not sure who dyed it, but they turned out really fun!

I realize that my pictures are huge, and I will try to fix them tomorrow, but for now I am heading to bed :)

Quick Updates

OK, I have several custom orders in the works right now and I want to keep everyone updated, so here is the status of your orders as of Saturday morning.

Brieanne (vest)- 2 in. of knitting left on main vest, need to block and add trim. Planning to ship this out on Monday.

Dena1313- waistband finished

Road2Healthy- waistband finished

Caitlyn'smommy- planning to cast on Monday

Custom dye orders-

Michelle- yarn is dyed and drying
Stacey (hydrangea)- trial yarn is dyed and drying, will send pics as soon as it is dry
Jeanie- Yarn is dyed except for green trim
Katzmark- waiting to receive yarn

If you ordered yarn from my last stocking on creativemamas and you haven't received it yet it will be going out in the mail on Monday. All trims are dyed and dry and I just need to package them up and ship them out.

If you don't see your name on my list and you think it should be, then post and I will let you know your progress. I am leaving on Tuesday night to go to Disneyland until Saturday night. I will get as much done as possible before we leave, but some orders will not be finished until I get back. I have a few custom dyeing orders that are not on my list (Stephanie Yocum, Gizmo, Emily Eva, Mini Skein Auction), I may not start those unti I return, although I am hoping to at least get the yarn wound and ready to dye and maybe a section or two done on these. I am planning on taking my knitting with me for nap time, and I will knit as much as I can while we are gone, but I also plan on enjoying the time with my kids. Thanks for understanding and you can email me with any questions at amyltc@yahoo.com.

Itty Bitty Longies and a few new colorways

Here are some itty bitty longies for a sweet little babe. I had so much fun making these, they are so sweet and tiny!

A custom colorway for a very sweet mama
And a surprise for that itty bitty babe, a hat knit from the Ky baby ear cozy pattern, soooo much fun to knit and it was a quick knit too! I love longies but it was fun to do something out of the ordinary. Would love to see action pics 'wink wink'

And another colorway from our 'safari' themed stocking, this one is still available at creative mamas congo in a collaboration with chubby cheeks! I have a few more that I will upload tomorrow to share.
As for my WIPs, ah they are many and I feel like I've had a difficult time getting to my knitting lately. Between a teething baby, colds, and a flooded basement I've been getting behind. I am vowing to spend late nights catching up, even if my dear husband hates me for it :)
I am just about finished with Diane's second longies and a good way into little Mia Bella's longies. As for Brieanne's vest I got a few inches into it and realized I had the colors mixed up and was doing the increases incorrectly, so I've frogged it and will be starting over. Thanks for your patience!

My newest hand dyed yarns

Little Miss Hippopotamus
Lemon Ice
Mason
A bunch of yarns hanging out together
Pumpkin at Night
Apple Orchard (my personal favorite of the bunch)
Witches Brew
Rose Lake
Jelly Bean Rainbow

Lots of Works in Progress!

Wow things have been crazy around here! I'm back to my full time job teaching kindergarten and trying to juggle kids, housework, work and my wahm business keeps me busy, but I love them all (well except the housework) Anyway here are updates!

Here are a pair of custom longies that I custom dyed the yarn for. The yarn is named after the mamas daughter, Mia Bella. It is one of my favorite colorways that I've done so far and it is done to match some cute dresses. I can't wait to see the whole thing together and it is knitting up nicely so far. I would also love to know where to get such cute dresses! (wink, wink)

I might have to make a similar pair for my own little girls.

Here is a WIP in a droolworthy autumn colorway by midnight spectrum on bfl. This yarn has turned me into a yarn snob, I'm in love with bfl! It is so soft, yet strong, just amazing to work with! I'm in the process of splitting for the legs on these so they look a bit wonky.

The black cherry longies are finished and ready to ship they turned out super cute! I hope their new owner loves them!

Unfortunately I am having camera trouble and wasn't able to get pics of my other two WIPs, a vest for a little boy in some awesome autumn colors, and a pair of preemie longies that I need to get cracking on before their owner gets home from the hospital!

Thanks to all the mamas that I'm working with right now for your patience! I'm really lucky to have such awesome customers, I love knitting for you all :)

Updates

Its been a while since I've updated. I don't have any pics today as things have been very busy around here. I am back to school, and the kids come on Thursday! It is exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

I am almost finished with the Black Cherry longies I have had in progress and am half way through the rise on the fallish longies for Diane. I am loving the colorway, it is from midnight spectrum and it is TDF!

I have also been dyeing more yarn that is available on my hc congo: hyenacart.com/creativemamas!

Corral Reef Longies

These longies were done in Moda Dea's cartwheel yarn, in the colorway 'corral reef.' It is really fun yarn to work with as it has a varigated thickness, it made for a fun result! Hope the mama that is getting these likes them!

Sorry, not the greatest pics, good thing I'm a better knitter than photographer!
In other news I recently joined the 'Creative Mamas' congo on Hyena Cart. We'll be stocking every Friday! Come check it out!

Works in Progress and new dyed yarn!

So I tried my hand at dyeing with acid dyes and here is what I came up with! I am open for name suggestions and opinions!
Here is a pic of my dd's soaker so far, it is on the 'strawberry cheesecake' colorway dyed by Amanda of AV designs
And here is Diane's shorties so far, I'm not sure why the picture came out so dark, I am loving them so far though!

More shorties finished, more started

I finished Happy Vegan's other peace fleece shorties at the cabin and snapped one single pic before my camera died.

I also started a pair of shorties for Diane of Doodlebunz. I have finished the waitband and begun the rise on them.

I have also decided to devote Sunday as a day to knit for my girls and not work on anything else. I have a bazillion projects I want to get done for them especially for winter. I have had some sweet yellow and pink yarn waiting to be done up into a soaker for Allie and since summer is more than halfway done I thought I'd better hurry. So I started it this week and it is almost finished, it should be done the coming Sunday, yeah!

I tried one more venture in the world of yarn, I tried dying with acid dyes. The yarn is drying and I will post pics later. I am liking how it turned out, we'll see once it is reskeined.

Finished Peace Fleece Shorties!

These shorties have a picot edge, it was my first time doing a picot edge and I am really happy with how it turned out!

I got the yarn wound into a ball last night and got the first few rows finished. We are packing tonight for our vacation so I doubt if I'll accomplish much else tonight, but I should be able to finish them while we are out of town.
We are leaving Wednesday morning, so if anyone needs to reach me I won't be in touch until Saturday evening or Sunday.

Lena's Meadow shorties almost finished!

I've finished the rise and gusset on Happy Vegan's shorties in the Lena's Meadow colorway. I am just about to split for the legs. They should be finished tonight! I will post pictures later on.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Zenmamma's Capris Finished!

Last night I finished Capris for Zenmamma, today I am finishing up the headband and drawstring while they dry.

I also received yarn for two custom shorties from HappyVegan, they are both peace fleece, I should get started on these tonight.

Customs Update

I am creating this blog as a way for me and my customers to communicate and stay up to date on information. I will post pictures and information about where I am on customer orders so that you stay informed! Right now I am working on purewool capris for user Zenmamma. The rise on them is finished and I am hoping to get at least one leg finished by tonight. They should be complete, washed and dryed by Sunday and ready to ship out on Monday! I will try to update this blog twice weekly.
